Banzuke for the Grand Sumo Taunament in September

Well, as my blog has gotten so many visitors who seeks information about Sumo, I thought I’d better post the newest Banzuke.

In Sumo, East is higher rank than West.

Yokozuna at East is Hakuho, obviously, and Yokozuna at West is Asashoryu.

My favorite Sumo wrestler, Kotooshu is the top Ozeki at East. So, there are 5 Ozeki in Makuuchi, and in this case, the highest ranking of Ozeki is the top of East, the 2nd is the top of West, the 3rd is the 2nd of East, the 4th is the second of West, and the last is the 3rd of East.

Well, I am going to leave a link to Nihon Sumo Kyokai (the association of Grand Sumo?) for people who wants to know the rest of ranking.

Here : Nihon Sumo Kyokai

I hope this link works well for you. Good luck, and enjoy!

Oh, by the way, could you please to have a look on my other articles? If you left a comment, it is always welcome and I will mostly appreciate, but if you don’t like, yeah it is perfectly OK. Just please try to read.

Kotooshu, 10 raws of winnings!

Finally again!

Since his first Championship, over a year has gone!

Come on, Kotooshu, get the Cup again and to be Yokozuna!!!!!!

Ah, but, the Yokozuna Hakuho is really in a good condition and I don’t think Kotooshu can win against Hakuho…… Maybe Asashoryu, the other yokozuna, but not Hakuho……

Let’s see what will happen!

Well done, Kotooshu!

I believe he got good experience through this tournament for the next challenge to be a Yokozuna.

He seemed to me that he kept trying to fight in the style of Yotsu-zumo. That would be very important point if he wants to be a Yokozuna.

I think he would fight better on the next tournament in September and it would be very interesting tournament.

Let’s see how it will be!

Exciting match with 2 Georgian wrestlers : Day 8 in Nagoya Basyo

I was so excited when 2 Georgian wrestler were making great match. Kokkai, the first Georgian Sumo wrestler defeated Tochinoshin after long and powerful fight. I could see their strong desire to defeat the other one.

Kokkai lost already 5 matches, but I hope the winning will be a turning point to him.

Today, Yokozuna Hakuho and all 4 of Ozeki got their winnings.

The eldest Ozeki, Kaiou showed that he IS Ozeki against Aminishiki. Do your best, Kaiou!

Kotomitsuki struggled with Wakanosato. He is originally coming from nearby Nagoya and he and Ama keep the second rank of the result after Hakuho with a one defeat difference up to now. Keep the position you 2 guys! It will make the tournament more interesting and exciting!

And, Chiyotaikai. This is his 12th Kadoban (he must lose his rank as a Ozeki if he won’t win 8 matches), but he always came back to the rank. This time, he already win 6! Wow!

At last, my favorite, Kotooshu. He lose the chance to be a Yokozuna already, but he seemed to keep challenging to struggle with his mental problem. he also seemed still nervous a little. I hope he will overcome his nervousness day by day and grab his fortune.

No challenge, No chance.

You must challenge if you want to get a good result.

Keep challenging, Kotooshu!

I will always support you 🙂

Kotooshu got Shonichi

Today is the 2nd day of the July Grand Sumo Tournament and Kotooshu got his first winning.

We say “Shonichi ga deta” when a Sumo wrestler got his first winning on a Grand Tournament. “Shonichi” generally means the first day, and “deta” is the past tense of “deru” and it means to appear. Then, we say, “Kotooshu ni Shonichi ga deta” and it might be “The first winning of the tournament appeared on Kotooshu” in English.

He seemed being very nervous even today and it is the biggest problem for him. He must win against his nervousness if he wants to be a Yokozuna because the pressure must become bigger when he become a Yokozuna.

The situation is very hard. I think it will be difficult for him to be a Yokozuna even if he win all the rest of match because he lost yesterday very badly against Aminishiki, the only one wrestler who defeated Kotooshu on the last tournament in May. But it would be very good experience for his mental problem to keep fighting for 15 days under such a big pressure.

I wish he grab his fortune through the tournament.

Do your best, Kotooshu!

I want to see your Dohyo-iri!

Sumo, Banzuke(ranking of the wrestlers) for Nagoya Tournament is announced.

Kotooshu (琴欧洲), my most favorite Sumo wrestler, is the Ozeki of the East!

In Japan, maybe in China and Korea also, there’s a view that the East is more powerful than the West because the Sun is rising from the East. Then, on the Sumo wrestling, the East is the superior group of wrestlers. There’s 4 of Ozeki right now in Makuuchi, and he is the first rank of them, so, he has the biggest possibility of becoming the Yokozuna (the first rank of the Sumo wrestlers).

Kotooshu is the only one Bulgarian Sumo wrestler ( and the tallest one among them).

I don’t know any word in Bulgarian but I can guess that it is far different from Japanese and he had to spend very hard time in Japan and Japanese, especially the first part of his life in Japan. Sumo is our traditional culture and it has lots of different custom even for us, Japanese. So, how surprised he was as a young man from Europe! (He was 19 years old when he came to Japan.)

But he did his best and won the March Grand Tournament. It was the first time for him winning the Tournament.

I hope he will win the next tournament in Nagoya and becoming the Yokozuna.
