Japanese people are polite and kind?

02 Jul

Some Japanese said “Thank you” or gave a gift for a stimulant seller when they bought the drug from him. And, based on this experience, he strongly recommended that Japanese people are very polite and kind and Japan is very nice country.

Should I be proud?

*He was foreigner.

Interesting thought. Of all the Japanese people I have met up until now I have to say that they all have been very kind and polite, different from the people I deal with in Germany. I was talking to a Japanese friend a few days ago and she said that she didn’t think Japanese people are more polite or kinder than other people. Maybe it just depends on who you deal with, right?

    Hello Janblurr,
I am glad to hear that you have good experience with Japanese people.
So, I think it depends on who you deal with, as you say, and also depends on who you are. If you are polite, they will be polite to you. If they already had bad experience with people who came from your situation, it might be difficult for them to be polite and kind to you. For example, I visited in China about 10 times for both business and leisure, and they were always polite and kind to me though there were many reports how they hate Japanese people. It is an example of who you deal with. On the other hand, I was a little scared when I visited other Asian country, because of I am Japanese.
Maybe it depends on how our life is going, I guess. Out history, our experience, we are happy or angry, etc. Don’t you think so?

    Hello Scarlet,

Of course most of the time how people react towards you is determined by how you act in front of them. If you behave rather angry and unfriendly I assume most of the time people will be impolite towards you.
As for Europe I guess you can compare the situation of Japanese travelers in Asia with that of the German travelers in Europe. Maybe it’s because of what happened in history, but sometimes people take that as an excuse to just be impolite towards someone.
I myself have never experienced anything bad while traveling through Europe, but there are always reports on the media.

“Maybe it depends on how our life is going, I guess. Out history, our experience, we are happy or angry, etc. Don’t you think so?”
    – That’s true, of course it always depends on the individual. And someone who is a very open person will be much kinder towards strangers than someone who is not interested in his or her surroundings.

Interesting topic, by the way (^_^)

    – Oh, that’s the most important point! We are surrounding on the Internet just for finding interesting things, aren’t you? πŸ˜†

Maybe we are polite and kind in some foreign people’s view of kindness and politeness. And, we don’t think we are more polite or kinder than other people in our view.
I haven’t visited in Europe yet, but I would check the people carefully if they are polite and kind to me on my view πŸ˜‰
